Interest
One thing a member follows. All five categories render as the same row on LinkedIn, which is why category is the field that tells them apart.
Fields #
| Field | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|
category | string | influencers, companies, groups, newsletters or schools. LinkedIn's own token rather than the tab's label, so it does not change with the language the page was rendered in - influencers is what their UI calls Top Voices. |
name | string | |
subtitle | string | The headline under the name: a person's own headline, a page's tagline. Absent where the entity has none, which is usual for companies and schools. |
caption | string | The line beneath that, as rendered - and it is not always a count: followers for a person, a page or a school, members for a group, a publishing cadence for a newsletter. Passed through rather than parsed, because a number pulled out of it would be right for four categories and absent for the fifth. |
url | string | |
urn | string | The stable identifier of the thing followed, which is what makes an interest something to look up rather than a name to search for. Absent for newsletters, whose id is in the url instead. |
logo_url | string |
Absent is not null: a field we did not get is omitted rather than sent as an empty string, so you can tell "LinkedIn does not have this" from "this person left it blank".
